There is a lot happening at Mount Zion over the next several weeks. Here is everything you need to know about upcoming opportunities to serve, connect, and get involved!
GOOD NEWS CLUB AT LAUREL MILL ELEMENTARY
The Lord has provided a HUGE opportunity for us to reach the kids, families, and teachers at Laurel Mill Elementary School!
We are coming together with the rest of the churches in our community to start an after-school children’s Bible study called Good News Club at Laurel Mill Elementary.
When: 2nd and 4th Wednesday of every month
Time: 2:30–4:00 PM
Where: Laurel Mill Elementary School
To make it happen, we need as many volunteers as possible to help with snacks, games, music, and more.
We will also need resources. Even if you can’t physically volunteer in the mid-afternoon on a Wednesday, you can still make a huge difference by donating to help cover the costs of running the club.
If you feel led to help us reach the students AND FAMILIES of Laurel Mill Elementary by giving your time, resources, or financial support, let me know you’re interested. I will send you EVERYTHING you need to get plugged in with the Good News Club outreach!

HOMECOMING 2026
Our yearly HOMECOMING SERVICE is coming up on September 27!
As always, we will have our Homecoming Potluck at 11:00 AM after the service to fellowship with all the former members who have traveled from far and wide to catch up with us.
We will also have Bill Sheffield, one of Mount Zion’s previous pastors, delivering the message.
It is going to be a fantastic time!
HELP US GET READY FOR HOMECOMING
Before Homecoming arrives, we have a Church Work Day on September 12 to get the church cleaned up and ready.

Beginning at 8:00 AM
Come and go as you are available.
We will continue until we are finished, so whether you can stay for the whole day or simply lend a hand for a little while, come help us get Mount Zion ready for Homecoming!

The Tar River Baptist Association’s Senior Adults Conference is coming up!

It is going to be an awesome time. If you are one of our senior adults, we would love for you to mark September 22 on your calendar and go represent Mount Zion alongside the rest of our partner churches!
CHRISTMAS TOY MINISTRY FUNDRAISER
Every December, we work with the school system to help as many families in need as possible have gifts for their children to open on Christmas morning.
But making that happen costs money.
Throughout the month of September, we are raising money for our Christmas Toy Ministry.
If you feel led to donate, you can give in either of two ways:
- Specially mark your donation and place it in the offering plate when it comes around.
- Place your donation in the Christmas Toy donation box at church.
Every donation helps us serve local families and make Christmas morning special for children in our community.
YOUNG ADULTS IS BACK!
Young Adults returns October 4!
